Bristol Estates continues to own property and property related rights and interests, including rights to restrictive covenants, rights of pre-emption, and rights of reverter, in Great Chesterford which it has owned for over 300 years.

The Essex estate came into the Bristol family with the marriage of John Hervey, 1st Earl of Bristol to Elizabeth Felton in 1695. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Felton, 4th Baronet and his wife, the former Lady Elizabeth Howard, daughter and co-heir of James Howard, 3rd Earl of Suffolk. The Essex estate was originally centred around Great and Little Chesterford.
